The equipment used to measure my eyes was state of the art so gave one confidence, especially taking multiple readings. All the staff were very friendly and ind. During and after surgery I had excellent care and I felt like I had the VIP treatment. I was never in any pain and enjoyed being able to see from the moment I came out of the operating room. I was really nervous having my treatment done, but was more worried about how sore my eyes would be in the days afterwards. I had taken sometime to build up the confidence to go for Laser treatment, so I was a little shocked when I was advised the Laser may be problematic and I.C.L (Implantable Contact Lenses) may be a better route. I had a quite strong prescription so was keen to get rid of contact lenses. After researched and reading the literature, I elected to go ahead with the procedure. I have just gone a year since having surgery, and my eyes are still 20/20. I have had no trouble with them at all, and the service has been great. My only gripe is being left with the contacts in for three days after surgery when it says in the brochure you should only have them in for one day. They were agony, and it meant I couldn't see or move all weekend. On removal my eyesight was perfect however. Definitely recommend - it's a great company, and a great experience from start to finish. I’m very pleased to have achieved perfect long distance vision through the replacement of my natural lens with an artificial multifocal lens. It was a difficult decision to have this surgery, as my lenses did not have cataracts and were healthy. Advance Visioncare were good at explaining the compromises in having multifocal lenses implanted, and my expectations have been met. Near vision is good in the right eye, but its taking time to getting used to. Haloes around lights at night are not that much worse than with my old varifocal glasses. I was booked in for Lasik however once on the operating table it was decided that I would need Lasek instead as my eye socket was too small therefore not allowing the suction to work properly. The procedure was explained well by Mr Pillai however i was not quite prepare for the longer healing time post-op and spent the next three days not being able to see or focus properly. However by day 5-10 post op it was an incredible improvement daily ending up with 20/20 vision. I am now keen to have Conductive Keratoplasty so that i don’t have to even wear reading glasses. The whole experience has been fantastic! The treatment and the aftercare were second to none. I had my consultation in March/2009. A very competent, professional, and friendly clinic. I was very happy and comfortable with all stages of the process. The only possible improvement I can suggest is with the volume of printed information that is given out. If this could be organised better or condensed I think it would be an improvement, as once you have so many sheets it it difficult to find the one bit you are looking for. Perhaps a binder with different sections for the different stages of the whole process would make things easier to file and find. But as soon as I real all the positive and honest comments written by previous patients in the waiting room I felt so much better. I had LASIK Wavefront carried out by Mr Pillai 18 months ago. I had my final post of check on Wednesday which I am pleased to say I still have 20/20 vision. Everyone was great and informed me well of my suitability and the treatment itself. I went with AVC because I could research the Surgeon, meet him and find out his track record. With a lot of other clinics you cannot do this! 1-The outcome of your Surgery will depend on the Surgeon, 2 the laser, 3 the aftercare. Many people purely look at cost which I believe is the wrong approach. There was no pain during or after surgery and I was driving 3 days. I had worn glasses since I was 3 half with my prescription getting much stronger in recent years. So what could Advance VisionCare do for me? I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years and my prescription was getting pretty strong. I also suffered a little bit of blurred vision in one eye so CLE was suggested. The operation was fine and I was well looked after. The only problem was that there was a delay of a couple of hours each time. Like I said, the operation went well and it did not hurt any much more than giving blood. The nurses and surgeon were very nice and put me at case. I have been thinking of having the treatment for the last two years, and finally decided to come for the consultation in January 09. I was so pleased with the thorough check up and the explanations I got from the clinic and decided to book for the treatment on that day! The treatment day was so quick and no pain at all; a bit of a blur and a feeling of a bit dry eyes; apart from that there was no problem at all (in fact I went to see a show in the night of the treatment !!) I have just had my 1 week check up; all is ok just a bit dry eyes; so I continue to use “sno drops” and “gel tears” just keep my eyes lubricated. It is the best thing ever!! My internet research stopped when I read Advance VisionCare website. The website gave me all the information I required at that time, the Surgeons qualifications, reputation, types of procedures and the success rate of surgeries. I live in Siberia so telephone communication was not always convenient. E-mail correspondence was made through Lela who, due to her efficacy and excellent telephone manner, gave me the confidence to book both my initial assessment and surgerey date (If accepted). For anyone considering laser-eye surgery, I would just say--DO IT! Like a lot of other people who have written on this site, I am wondering why I waited so long. I was about -8.5 in both eyes, and thus totally dependent on glasses. I had had glasses or contacts for 32 years, and then one fine afternoon I walked out of the Advance Vision Care surgery without them! The scariest part about the surgery is the clamp going on your eye, but it really is only your fear, it didn't hurt at all. The treatment itself (I had Lasik) was quick and easy (and the sedative beforehand helped keep me calm, as I was quite jittery!) On the day of the first CLE it might have been useful to explain some of the temporary effects to expect as these concerned me at the time. Cloudiness and double vision in the eye! Rationalised that these would pass after a while which they did, but it was a bit concerning at the time. Second eye was therefore easier because I know what to expect. From the moment I walked in the door at AVC I know I was in good hands. Everyone was so professional and caring. I was very worried about the procedure but everyone put me at ease. I have had severe short sight for 32 years -9.75 right eye, -7.75 left eye and had worn contact lenses for 28 years. Last year my optician told me I may not be able to wear contacts for much longer and it was this news that made up my mind.
