Before I underwent LASEK surgerey I had a prescription of -9.50 in each eye. I hated wearing glasses & lived in contact lenses which I knew would one day have to end. I tried several years ago to have them lasered by Ultralase but was told my corneas were too think & thought that was out. I found the whole experience better than ever expected, I was impressed with the level of care I was given. My regret is although my distance vision is noticeably better, my ability to read small print as in reading books, newspapers and mobile phone is not as good as I had hoped. I had Lasek Wavefront treatment for -4.5 and -5.5 distance prescription with -1.5 and -2.5 astigmatism. I was (and still am) delighted with the attention received at Advance Visioncare. Truly wonderful! The only thing 2 would add is that for me preciously it would have been helpful to have been advised to wear in addition to sunglasses after the op, a baseball cap for additional protection re light sensitivity. For me, the sunglasses were not quite enough. However, the light sensitivity that I experienced only lasted for 1 day, after which 2 started to wonder of eyes without glasses. As a photographer I am really pleased with the results of my CK treatment 5 months on. It was a nightmare with reading glasses, through the view finder, put glasses on to check the photo on the screen, then take them off again for the next one. That’s all stopped now. The CK procedure was very a simple, painless experience, after which I was able to read without the aid of any reading glasses e.g. menus, computer screen, even able to read the date on my watch which I wasn’t able to do even with glasses. Being a scientist I am a little obsessive about doing research about everything I do. After many hours of talking to people, I came to the conclusion that this clinic was the one for me. I had wanted this done for so many years but cost and never delayed it. I was still nervous on the day but everyone made me so relaxed. I hastily did not feel a thing. For a few days after I had a little discomfort, followed the aftercare instructions to the letter. Relief when the bandage contact lens came out. Mr Pillai and staff ensure that the procedure is not at all uncomfortable and I appreciate the “running commentary” at each stage. My overall vision was immediately dramatically improved and now my long sight is fantastic with colours and definition much enhanced. The downside is that after the protective contact lenses were removed (after the LASEK treatment) my near vision got much worse. I realised that I would need glasses for reading but a present I still need them for doing household tasks, have problems at work (I am a chef), can’t see to put make up on etc…. When I came to see Mr. Pillai on a Friday evening, I was most impressed by his commitment to stay behind and run through the consultation with me himself. The consultation lasted 2 hours. That immediately stood out to me. After 2 weeks since I had Lasik Waverfront surgery, I can see perfectly! As a Dentist any failure in vision could have jeopardized my career and that was my primary concern. I did a lot of research before going to this clinic for bilateral wavefront surgery - I had a prescription of -10 in both eyes and most clinics either refused to do me (in case they messed it up and I affected their statistics) or I simply didn't feel they were professional enough. It went very went. Mr Pillai is a wonderful person. He doesn't rush any of his appointment with you. The hotel was very, very good. My friend and i really enjoyed staying there. After an initial consultation at Ultralase I was told LASEK was my only option but did not feel comfortable with their staff and seemed not to want to answer my “technical” questions. After hours of reading and contacting previous patients I went for a consultation at AVC. The treatment was not at all painful, at worst just a little uncomfortable. The whole procedure was carried out very quickly in less than 30 minute, I could see out both eyes straight away. Within a hour of surgery I was on a train back home –without any problems.
