Decided to try Advance Visioncare after being unimpressed with initial contact with Boots at Bluewater, and reading the excellent reviews on this site. Prescription -4.75, -3.50. with -2.25 astigmatism in both eyes. My best-corrected vision with glasses wasn't brilliant, only reading the driving standard line at best. All of the consultants were friendly and efficient and explained everything thoroughly. Its been 8 weeks since I had the op done. I was 7 and 7.25 diopters shortsighted, with a slight astigmatism. I had a consulation at Advance VisionCare after initially trying Boots and Ultralase, neither of whom impressed me very much. Ultralase's wavefront measurement calculated my vision to be a diopter worse than it was, and Boots refused to treat me because my pupils were so wide, and then casually mentioned that they didn't have wavefront at that clinic anyway, I'd have to go all the way out to Bluewater for that. I never give anything 5 stars unless they take their clothes off. I had LASIK with Maxivision 2 years ago. They did not have wavefront. One eye was good the other bad. I had a flap lift on the bad eye one week later, still no good. three months later, just after Maxivision went pop, an enhancement. This was better but still had 0.75 astigmatisim and 0.25 short sighted. In the end I went back to wearing glasses. Optimax tuned me away and would not even talk to me Ultralayse in Guildford did all the wavefront tests but refused to help. I cannot fault the service, which I received from Advance Vision Care, before, during and after the operation. I was amazed that I suffered so few side effects from the treatment, just slight discomfort immediately after the operation+dry eyes for a couple of months, which the artificial tears dealt with. The engaging Dr. Pillai is a scientific magician. True, I was relieved of a substantial sum, but in return I’m now seeing (at 43 years of age) better than I was at 14 years old! From minus 9 to zero in five weeks is fantastic for me. I first had laser treatment at Optimax in September 2002. Like most people I was swayed by the price more than anything. They seemed to be the most well known at the time. The day after I received my treatment I could barely see three feet in front of me and was quite a lot of discomfort. I returned to the clinic for my check-up but rather than being re-assured that everything was alright I found the surgeon rather bewildered by my condition. I was particularly impressed by the thoroughness of my initial consultation; an inconsistency between my spectacle prescription and actual measured condition was checked three times! (and by different people). I was greatly reassured by this, and by the care and attention given to me, bearing in mind that at that stage I had not made a commitment to continue. Had wave-front LASIK 2 weeks ago and am utterly amazed at my quality of vision. I was driving standard straight after surgery, very clear vision the next day and vitually 20/20 after 1 week. Now absolutely perfect. No problems with night vision, dryness, close up work, computer work - infact no problems at all! I found the treatment painless - if a little uncomfortable, the staff excellent and, as I say, the result incredible. I wanted improved vision without glasses for sailing. I still expected to need glasses for day to day work. Intial contact with Classic Eyes Abindon convinced me to use Advance VisionCare but I was unsure of the Local Management Centre so had most earley evaluation & aftercare at Harley St. Staff were very helpful arranging this. I had eye surgery about 8 weeks ago at Advance Visioncare and am very happy to report that I now have a high quality of vision and have achieved a level of 6/5 in each eye. My previous concern with blurry/double images in one eye (reported on my previous entry on 12th Feb) has diminished considerably and my eyesight just continues to improve. I think this goes to show that everyone and every single eye is individual and healing may take longer in one eye than in another. Excellent. More than completely satisfied. Previously -4.75 in both eyes, no astigmatism, now perfect sight in both - bottom of the eye charts. No glare, double vision, ghosting or any negative visual side effects. Some slight dryness following the operation that is slowly improving. I decided to do each separately - 3 weeks apart.
