Having heard about the Accuvision laser clinic opening up almost two years ago, which was supposed to be using the latest state of the art laser treatment (Wavefront). I started researching the web to see what it was all about. Finally after months of sifting through all the information, I decided to make a trip to Accuvision for a consultation, forearmed with the knowledge that my opticians had previously told me I had an irregular corneal shape. They picked this up in the examination. Daryus and Vik explained to me, that although this might be a contraindication for treatment by most clinics and that they would like to ask me to come back at intervals to see any changes that might be occur in the eye. I went back to the clinic at six monthly intervals for the examinations.
In June 2003, I was told the eyes were stable and they were happy to operate. The kind of service they provided where the emphasis was on the patient’s wellbeing and satisfactory long-term outcome was amazing. I truly felt that the staff wanted clinical excellence above all and not just a production line like surgery.
On the day of the surgery, Mike explained at length the procedure and what to do post-op. In the time that I had waited for all my examinations, Accuvision were going to treat my eyes using their new topography customised treatment. The op went well and within the next day from a prescription of 3.5 and 3.0 with astigmatism I was down to 0 and had 20/20 vision.
I had no problems with the eyes apart from the slight dryness that I experienced for a week. At the one-month post-op examination I was told I had 20/15 vision in both eyes. Apart from the amazement of being relieved of the burden of wearing glasses, what I would sum up my vision as being "pin sharp" and "crisp".
Almost six months down the line my vision is stable with the vision of a hawk...yaay. Thanks to all at Accuvision including Mike, Daryus & Vik.
