Having had a bad experience with Ultralase (see my post 26-May-03), I thought all was lost until I came accross this website and began reading some of the posts here about accuvision!

So booked a consultation - my prescription was -9 & -8.25 with slight astigmatism.
Vic was very thorough, and never put me under any pressure. These guys specialise in hard prescriptions - Ultralase couldn't do me because my pupils dilate to 7mm and they could only treat a 6mm surface, plus they would have left me < 250microns corneal thickness (excluding flap).

Vic & Daryus prescribed a customised Lasik method (I wouldn't need wavefront), which would require an inverted flap and extra thin flap of 100 microns- the total cost would be £4k.

I went ahead with surgery last week (fri) - painless procedure, (just uncomfortable), no post op pain, just a little stinging for an hour, and light sensitivity for 2/3 hours. I had to wear a protective contact lense over night so this slowed the healing process which meant I had cloudy/hazy vision the next day (sat) - by sunday morning I had very clear vision which improved every day after - I was back at work on the Tuesday.

I had my 1 week check and have 20/15! (better than 20/20) - these guys are awesome!

because of the combination of inverted and thin flap it meant that my corneal thickness was approx 310microns in both eyes (compare that to Ultralase's <250microns)!

It was expensive but these guys are way ahead of the rest.
