I had trans-epithelial surgery about 3 weeks and was told tolday that my sight is better than 20:20 vision! I would recommend it without a doubt.
I had the trans-epithelial surgery due to a thin cornea and this treatment was suggested as a safer option. At all consultations the staff were calm and patient and coherent with their explanations and I felt reassured throughout. All risks were explained and at no time did I feel pressure to go ahead with the surgery.
The procedure itself was insignificant as it was so quick and pain free. The only strange feeling was having my eye wide open with lots of lights in front of me.
Being honest I found that post-surgery it was extremely painful. I could not sleep for the first two nights and had difficulty opening my eyes for the first 24-36 hours. However, the pain subsides after approx 36 hours and although my vision was initially blurry and quite out of focus it was better than usual. My bandage contact lenses were taken out 5 days later and my vision went slightly worse again which is expected when the lenses come out but now I have perfect vision with no glasses or contact lenses and healing well. The team are supportive and are there whenever you need them.
My only regret is that I didn't have it done years ago!
