I had both eyes treated on 15 Oct 08, original prescription was both -2.75, very mild astigmatism. My eyesight is now 6/4.5 in left eye, and 6/6 in right. I had previously worn Ortho-K lens (lens worn overnight that correct your vision when removed in the morning), but wanted something more permanent.Thus, I had high expectations, which were mostly met.

I choose Accuvision mainly due to them being the only clinic that offered trans epi LASEK, a treatment I was keen on due to my low prescription, contact sports, and job (emergency services). They were also competitively priced, with an experience surgeon (Mr Rostron), who reassured me than a Wavefront Optimised (as opposed to Wavefront Customised), would be better in my case, and I was pleased I wasn't simply 'lumbered' with Wavefront as other clinics do.

The downsides are that what the surgeon said on treatment day contradicted what the optomerist said (I was told I could, theoretically, go blind). I also had a bad reaction to the eye-drops (Tobredex), resulting in pounding headaches and elevated eye pressure. There was also a lot of pain and discomfort for the first week or so after surgery, I would recommend taking at least 1 month off work, esp. if you have a manual job (the 'few days' quoted by laser eye surgery companies is misleading). I had a consultation at AVC, where the surgey was £1,000 more, but expect that many of the check ups there would have been with the surgeon rather than optomerist. I expect the same is true of Harley St clinics. That said, the optomerists at Accuvision are very helpful and knowledgeable.

2 months on I am very pleased, thank-you to all the staff at Accuvusion. However, I would warn people that there are risks, so think carefully about surgery.
