I had surgery at Solihull on 28th July. After my original consultation I was very impressed with the clinic, the atmosphere was excellant.Nick was superb during my examination and answered all the questiones I had, even looking at the ones Id printed from this site. I was shown the operating room and the laser. I was so confidant and relaxed. The consultation lasted just over an hour. Anyway I checked out another clinic but they just couldnt live up to the standards shown by nick danash, who was very easy to talk to and honest. On surgery day I arrived at the clinic, some people were waiting for surgery others sat with their eyes shut (this was advised after surgery as it helps the healing process) The atmosphere was relaxed and the clinic staff were friendly and helpful, I felt totally at ease, as did the majority of people in the clinic. My prescription was -3.00 and -2.75 with an astigmatism in one eye, I also had a thinner than normal lens and my pupils were very large. I went in for an examination on machines that fed the laser information, then went to meet the surgeon who checked my eyes and was happy with proceeding. I was taken through to the laser room and given drops, the staff were 100%, a nurse asked if I wanted her to hold my hand and apologised because her hands were cold. The first eye was started, drops were added and then the machine which cuts the lens was put on my eye, the cut lasted approx 1-2 seconds (at which time everything goes black) once lifted off everything was very burred, more drops and I could see the surgeon brushing my eye, the laser was switched on and I could smell burning (this is not your eye it is apparently the laser evaporating the drops on the eye)this lasted 13 seconds, more drops then the lens put back and a contact lens placed on my eye(to help the healing and stop infection)
A wait of maybe 5 minutes followed whilst the laser was checked and reset. The same procedure for the other eye but the laser was actually on my eye for 30 seconds this time. The time goes very fast. I was amazed by the number of drops that the surgeaon kept putting in my eye throughout the procedure. Immediatly after I could see (blurred slightly ) the surgeon examined my eyes immediatly and was happy. I walked back to the waiting room and sat with my eyes shut. Approx 15/20 minutes later further drops were added to my eye and I was ready to leave, I had to put drops in my eyes every hour until bed time when you tape hard clear plastic lens to stop you rubbing your eyes in the night, (I worn sunglasses until bedtime to stop me rubbing my eyes.
THERE WAS NO PAIN DURING SURGERY. The only discomfort was for the 4 hours after surgery and this was similiar ro an eyelash in your eye, or when you leave your contact lenses in too long -this went off when the drops were added.
The next day I returned to the clinic and the contact lens was removed - my vision was really good, very slightly blurred, this improved when the lens was removed. I could see clearly - my vision was 20/20. I have been for my second check up and stopped using the drops, Im going for my third check up tomorrow. My vision is 100%. I can read a book, work at the computer, drive its amazing.
The staff at solihull are amazing, 100% professional and worth every penny.I wish Id done this sooner it really is fantastic.
