I month update: Most of the fluctuation has died down now, except for some small near vision changes. It also takes a little while in the morning for full clarity to appear. Overall I am very happy. My eyes are comfortable and my sight is pretty much sorted for most things. I do find that for small letters in low light I cannot read things I used to be able to. For example, I now need a torch to read the central heating control panel in the boiler cupboard. But things are still improving and could do so for a few months. While LASIK is obviously quicker to give results that PRK, it is important to realize that things will vary for at least a month, otherwise you might be disapp ...  More...

The thanks first! I really don't know how to say 'thanks' in a way that's big enough! Thanks to this website for me finding Accuvision in Fulham...I'm grateful for being able to see again after the agony of the last 11 months....the birds, the stars that are points of light and not blurs..... To be able to drive at night... I'm grateful to the fact that there is technology available to treat eyes that were as messed up as mine and for the fact that I decided to trust Accuvision and their team when I was at an all time visual low and that there was a clinic who understood what a patient feels ...... for everything! Daryus, thank you for taking the time and having the patience to gain ...  More...

I had my laser treatment 16th October 2002 and haven't stopped smiling since. I had very short sight and high astigmatism (-9.00sph, +4.00cyl axis 75 and -10.50 sph + 5.25 cyl axis 90. I had booked for treatment at Moorefield's but had reservations about how effective their laser equipment would be on my high prescription so, after further research I contacted Accuvision because I had read about their advanced equipment incorporating Wavefront technology. During the free and lengthy assessment Darius became involved, instilling total confidence, which convinced me he could correct my sight, and that his was the clinic to use. I had no hesitancy cancelling with Moorefield's and trusting my ey ...  More...

I had my LASIK at Accuvision on 4th December. I was around a +3.75, +3.75 prescription in both eyes, i.e. quite longsighted with what the surgeon described as a 'wow, monster stigmatism'. Accuvision were more expensive than the other company (Ultralase) who said they could treat me, but seemed more confident and professional, so I went with them. The surgery was very quick and painless, and I didn't really suffer much discomfort afterwards either. I spent the whole afternoon in bed with my eyes closed. 45 minutes after the treatment, I was up to driving test standards, and the next day I was nearly 20/20. Since then, my right eye has fluctuated quite a lot, which has worried me, ...  More...

I had the operation at Accuvision on Friday. The reasons I chose Accuvision were the consistently positive comments here and the fact that I have poor night vision with a lot of glare and starbursts. Or rather had. :-) The result of the operation is that I have perfect daytime vision and my night time vision has improved too. I drove yesterday evening and although I have some halo-effects around lights, they are much easier to deal with than the starbursts I used to have. But I almost didn't go through with the surgery. Lying on the operating table with the clip in my right eye, I freaked out. The combination of watching somebody have the operation from the waiting room before being prepped ...  More...

Having worn glasses/lenses for 12 years and being a Mother of two under two's I decided it was time and had Wavefront treatment on both eyes (L-3.75 R -4.0 with astigmatism) on Friday 30th November. For two hours following surgery my eyes felt gritty and watered but after that I was able to watch television and eat without assistance - admittedly the room was dark and I was wearing sunglasses! The following morning at my check up I was 20:20 and a week later was better than 20:20 - FANTASTIC. It's now ten days after surgery and apart from experiencing a little halo around bright lights there's nothing to report. Had I not had absolute confidence in Daryus, his team and their technology ...  More...

I had my operation on Tuesday 26th November. I have just had my 10 day check up and the results are brilliant. At 18 years of age, I seem to be one of the younger patients at the clinic but the procedure seems to have been just as effective. I have been short sighted from the age of 8 with a prescription of -4.5 in both eyes, astigmatism and neovascularisation of the cornea. The treatment I received at Accuvision was excellent. All the staff were very friendly - Darius Vikash, Mr Ayliffe and the clinic nurse. There were initially some problems and although I was booked in for 9 am, I did not have the procedure until 3pm. Although this seems a negative point, I was relieved as I knew ...  More...

I went to Accuvision after three other eye clinics told me my prescription was impossible to treat. My prescription was R +4.25, L +3.75 with a very high Astigmatism. I had been wearing corrective lenses all my life and after the other eye clinics told me I was too far out of range to treat, I consigned myself to always wear corrective lenses. My last resort was to go to Accuvision (without much hope for a treatment) and they were very encouraging and told me they were very confident they could treat my eyes, and hopefully to an acceptable vision (at least to drive without glasses). So I trusted them and set up an appointment for the surgery. I was very impressed with their professionali ...  More...

Tomorrow, 29 November, is the day of reckoning when I go to Accuvision to have mono-vision LASIK treatment. Having reached the ripe old age of 41, I decided to go with their recommendation of mono-vision, especially after having trialled mono-vision contact lenses (arranged through Boots). Although I don't need reading glasses, they hope to put off the need for them for several years to come. Accuvision were great when I went for my consultation in October and, after a rather variable reception at Boots, ranging from extremely friendly to extremely offhand, I chose Accuvision. Only they suggested that they try and improve my night vision, which wasn't even mentioned at Boots. And the wh ...  More...

I had the LASIK operation at Accuvision on 20th November 2002 and am now 1 week post-op. The results are superb and still might improve slowly. My prescription was short sight with astigmatism, Right SPH -8 CYL -1.5 AXIS 155, Left SPH -7.5 CYL -1.5 AXIS 15, very large pupils and average corneal thickness. Ultralase said they could do the op with a reasonably good chance of success, but failed to tell me I would be left with a dangerously thin cornea, and still didn't tell me when I asked them directly (after going to Accuvision). My first appointment at Accuvision was double booked, but fortunately I forgave them and went along, thankfully as I found out all about corneal thickness and ...  More...

I had my consultation at Accuvision with Vik just over a week ago now I am booked in for Wednesday 27th November for Accuwave LASIK surgery. I was made to feel very comfortable at my consultation and I never thought or felt for one moment he was selling me anything. I don't have such bad eyes -4 in both but the fact that I have huge pupils made a difference and that's why I am having the accuwave treatment. Yes its extremely expensive but I don't think you can just take the chance on a good deal. I did loads of research before going ahead with my consultation and it helped me alot. This website is great so please keep posting your stories. I will let you know how it all goes next week.  More...

On the 22nd November 2002 I was given my new mono eyesight by Accuvision treatment. On the 23rd November 2002 I awoke to find I had achieved 20/20 vision. I am 57 years old and had a prescription of -6.00 with astigmatism and -5.00. I had attended two other clinics for assessment and because I had thin corneas was declined for surgery by both. I felt depressed and beyond help! By chance I was told about Wavefront LASIK treatment at Accuvision and after a successful consultation, given with great care and professionalism, was accepted for corrective surgery. With a prescription of +7.00 / -2.00 * 180 in both eyes and one of my eyes being a lazy eye, I had resolved myself to being dependent on visual aids until I found Accuvision in London. I decided to trust my eyes to Accuvision and proceeded to AccuWave LASIK treatment 6 weeks ago. What a result!! I cannot thank the team enough for their commitment and support throughout my treatment. From receptionist to surgeon, from consultation to completion, my treatment was second to none. I was clearly informed of any risks and the procedure was explained to me in great detail, there was no pressure and no misleading information to influence me to proceed. I am having LASIK corrective eye surgery at Accuvision is the best decision that I have ever made. For the first time in my life I feel normal. My parents thought that I was a 'SLOW' child until I started school and they realised that I could not see (my prescription was -9.00 and -12.00 with a bad astigmatism). I had tried contact lenses and very expensive glasses with the thinnest lenses possible but still groped around for my glasses before even being able to get out of bed, as it was rather like looking through frosted glass otherwise! When I first met my husband he thought I was smiling at him - the truth was that I couldn't even see him! (fortunately I still love him). My current pre ...  More...

Had my first weeks check-up yesterday. Eyes seem to be healing nicely. Dry eye symptoms are getting better day by day, only have to use the drops a couple of times a day now and my eyes are already feeling pretty comfortable. Night vision is not yet perfect but has improved quite a bit. Vision is still around the 20/20 mark. All-in all excellent progress. Have my next check-up in 5 weeks; I'll post an update then.  More...

Well another review for Accuvision and another 5 out of 5…. ;-) My prescription before my operation was around -8 in both eyes with around -3 diopters of astigmatism in both eyes giving a whopping -11 combined refractive error! On top of this my cornea's were around 10% thinner than average, (something no other clinic thought to mention!). I had been turned down for LASIK treatment at another clinic and offered LASEK instead but I was a bit weary of LASEK because of the increased risk of corneal hazing in the very short sighted like me and the fact the clinic had only recently started offering the procedure. After doing a bit of research on the web I went to Accuvision who said they coul ...  More...

My prescription before treatment was Right Eye SPH -3.25 CYL -4.50 Left Eye –SPH -3.25 CYL -5.50. I had worn glasses for 35 years and I was a real no hoper for LASIK as I have a high astigmatism in my left eye and also dry eyes, which meant I could not wear contact lenses. After being turned down flat when giving my prescription over the telephone by both Boots and Optimax I finally went to see Ultralase in Leeds who offered me LASEK, I booked my appointment but when I came back off holiday they had cancelled stating that the consent forms were still not back from the printers and it would be another 4-5 weeks (I had already waited 4 weeks). I lost all confidence and cancelled my appointmen ...  More...

I went for the consultation 2 weeks ago, and it was very thorough and reassuring. I was extremely impressed with the actual tests themselves - Accuvision certainly have remarkable technology and I'm confident that with my large pupils they could prevent night vision side effects and halos, etc. However, their costs are astronomical. I had been under the impression that Wavefront was approximately £3000 (this was my "upper limit" for spending). However, when they told me it was £4000, my jaw dropped. That's £2000 for EACH eye. I haven't contacted them since - however, I don't intend to go anywhere else, as I don't want to risk using conventional LASIK (i.e. without Wavefront) on my l ...  More...

What can I say apart from WOW !!!!! I had my eyes done with the wavefront laser surgery on 25th September and I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done in my life. I had worn glasses since I was 6 years old and for the last 23yrs had relied on glasses or contact lenses to get me through the day, I had a prescription of -6.50 in the right eye and -6.25 in the left. Also I had astigmatism in both eyes. I was absolutely petrified on the morning of the surgery and spent the 20 minutes before I went in shaking like a leaf. NO PAIN, NO PAIN! - I have tried to have laser surgery twice before with different companies, but they were unable to help due to the extremely complicated nature of my prescription. As well as short sight of –4.50 and –7.50, I also had astigmatism in both eyes and extremely thin corneas. It was the latter that had prevented previous surgery and that caused Accuvision some concern. To my amazement I was advised that Accuvision could carry out the operation – the only company able to do so - but that I would still be left with a prescription of approx. – 2.00 in the right eye. This meant that I would still need glasses for reading and night driving. My immediate re ...  More...

I had a very strong perscription (-6,-6.5) so after a trip around various clinics who said 'they would do their best', I was overjoyed when I found Accuvision. They may cost more than others but you have only one set of eyes and who better to entrust them to. It's six weeks since I received the treatment and I still wake up ever day amazed by the results. My vision was virtually crystal clear the day following treatment and a week later perfect. What more can you ask for.  More...

Lisa, I hope you made the best decision because after all the research I've done on this issue I find Accuvision to be world-class in their treatments. They do charge more than other clinics but they offer more. No-one else does what they do right now in the UK or USA. The extra £350 you complain about is the difference between an average and an excellent outcome! Good luck.  More...

Without doubt the best money i've ever spent. My prescription was -8.50 and -6.75 ie. i've worn lenses/glasses since the year zip. I had intended checking out other clinics, but after 2 relaxed, non pressured hours with Nick, i was convinced i had found the right place. Nick noticed straight away the extended blood vessels in my eyes from over use of contact lenses (my optician had told me just 2 weeks prior that i cannot wear lenses any more as a result), but accurately said it was not a problem for surgery. Its only 24hrs on and apart from a bit of haze which i was fore-warned about, my vision is as good as with contacts. I've already told everybody i know with myopia, who are amazed havi ...  More...

A quick update to my previous comments in reponse to some e-mails received. My prescription was not too severe - roughly -2.00 with 1 diopter of astigmatism in each eye. I can't exactly remember what my corneal thickness was but believe it was in the range of 560 - 600 microns. No cause for concern anyway. However, I should mention that the team at Accuvision were slightly concerned at the steepness of the cornea in a particular area that indicated some possible thinning. To minimise the risk, they cut the flap with an inferior hinge i.e. the flap is upside down when compared to the standard procedure. I was led to believe that they can do this because they have something like six differen ...  More...

I thought I would ring Accuvision up as they appear to have a good write up from most people. The first thing I asked was about the fee and I have been advised that the fee is actually £1,250 per eye and not £900 as stated above. I was also very dismayed to be on the receiving end of a very patronising young lady, which leads me to believe I have made the right decision in choosing Maxivision to have my surgery.  More...

Having attended consultations at three different clinics, Accuvision were the obvious choice for the following reasons: 1) The consultation with Vik was by far the most thorough. Vik was extremely knowledgeable and also the most forthcoming about possible outcomes and potential risks. 2) I was convinced that the Accuwave technology offered the best solution for me especially as this customised wavefront treatment offered the best outcome in terms of night vision complications. I was also strongly comforted that the Allegreto laser would remove less of my cornea than many other widely available lasers. 3) I got a genuine feeling that both Vik and Daryus had a very strong belief that they wer ...  More...

Here is my update: I had an appointment on Thursday, 22nd August 2002 and am so very happy with the outcome. So happy I went out that night to celebrate again!(Each time I see Accuvision I seem to be celebrating) I just couldn't stop smiling all the way home, but then again from the start that is the effect Accuvision has had on me so that is nothing new!! My sight was tested and my left eye is still 20/20 and when my right eye was tested it has improved and also reached 20/20 vision so that means that my sight has stabilized and both eyes are the same vision now. This is so amazing coming from someone who until 20th June (when I had my op) never had 20/20 vision, my vision was a line below ...  More...

When I had money left to me from when my Grandpa and Grandad died, I knew straight away what I wanted to spend the money on, I couldn't think of anything I'd rather have than to be able to see! Although for me, contact lenses were far better than glasses, I still felt they took away my spontaneity, I want to travel and learn to surf, and fall asleep on the sofa/anywhere I end up!! I had to wait till I was 20 and my eyes had stopped growing, and when I went for the consultation and Vic said my eyes were suitable I couldn't believe it- I had always prepared myself for wearing contacts forever, this really was a miracle! When it came to the operation I was so glad I had chosen Accuvision b ...  More...

Had wave guided LASIK surgery (surgeon:Daryus) on 20/6/02. Wave guided cost 3000, normal LASIK 2500 - I was told I needed wave guided because of poor night vision (poor contrast distinction in low light). Initial prescription -3.50 (both eyes). Vision now 20/10 ie. I could read the smallest line on the test chart! Staff very helpful - see the article in the Daily Mirror of 25/7/02 for a positive account from a patient who experiencd complications after surgery (which is always a small risk). Staff are aware of this website - I chose Accuvision as it was the only clinic that everyone who had contacted it gave 5/5 to when I was loooking in May. After my checkup today they gave me the new web a ...  More...

I had been considering having my eyes treated for over a year and was recomended to Accuvision by a work colleague. My concerns were that my prescription was very high (-10 with -1 astigmatism) and that I have very large pupils. During the consultation with Vikash it was confirmed that with earlier technology my prescription would have resulted in being turned away, but it was possible to return my eyes to 'normal' vision without compromising the cornea thickness, however I might have glare from lights when driving at night. As this is a problem I already had with contact lenses there was nothing to lose! Vik was very patient, thorough and advised me of all the risks etc. which was impor ...  More...

Just a quick update. Went for my first week check on Friday. Vision has fluctated a bit over the last week - tends to be worse when im tired. Have had no pain, no dry eyes and my eyes feel totally normal - I have to keep reminding myself that I had my eyes corrected just over a week ago. Anyway had my week check up and was told that my right eye is better than 20/20 and my left is 20/20 - excellent result. Eyes have healed really well and no problems with the flaps. And considering my prescription I couldnt have wished for more. I have to be checked again in six weeks and hopefully the result will be much the same and who knows it may even be better. I am happy to answer any questions et ...  More...

Words cannot describe how amazing Accuvision is to me. To say the Team at Accuvision are excellent would be an understatement. They are simply the best. Initially, my regular opiticians (The Eye Clinic) sent me a letter saying I am within the acceptable range for eye surgery and they could offer me a free assessment. I could only wear my contact lenses about 3 times a week because they irritated my eyes if I wore them for too long, plus they made my eyes red after a while and years ago, always knew at some point when technology improved I would investigate LASIK further. So, after the assessment with the Eye Clinic even though they told me I was suitable I just did not feel that trust and ...  More...

It is now six weeks since I had my surgery and I am amazed at the results. I had been turned down by Ultralase as I had a very high prescription (-11) and did not have enough corneal thickness for their laser. I had a consultation with Accuvison the next day but I rang up to cancel it as I presumed that if you couldn't be treated by one clinic you couldn't be treated at all. I was advised to still come in and I am so glad I did. It was explained to me by Vikash that the technology used at Accuvision is far superior to that used by other clinics and they were happy to take me on as they could correct my vision and still leave me with at least the minimum recommended corneal thickness. In March this year I finally lost my patience at messing about with contact lenses and glasses and decided to undergo laser surgery to correct my vision. After undertaking several hours of research on the internet (including this site) I decided that I would arrange for a consultation with Accuvision. From outset I was most impressed with the professionalism of their staff. I had two consultations to confirm my suitability, during these consultations several examinations and computer readings were taken of my eyes, every procedure was explained to me clearly as were the computer print outs. From this information I was able to determine what was causing my short sight (my prescription was - ...  More...

I had my eyes corrected at Accuvision just over four months ago and am extremely satisfied with the results. I had been wearing contacts/eye glasses for ever and with a poor vision (R -7.75 / -050 x17 and L -9.50/-100 x 162) coupled with a thinnish cornea, I did my research well before embarking on surgery. I realised early on in the selection process that the machine and the technology employed for the LASIK surgery is particularly important. In addition to Accuvision, I had my eyes examined at a centre famous for treating celebrities. I was particularly attracted by the surgeon there although the technology used at that clinic was older. I was not reassured when that centre told that ...  More...

Had a very strong long sighted presciption with astigmatism (+5.0 -3.00) both eyes. Have done lots of research - this site has been a very valuable source of information and thanks to everyone and I would encourage anyone who has had surgery to share their comments as first hand experience is always the best. I have also visited two other clinics who advertise the fact that they can treat upto my prescription - Ultralase and The Eye Clinic - see those site for comments. Was refused treatment at both of these clinics as I was not guaranteed a 100 per cent correction and that wasnt good for them. My long term expectations were for me to have less reliance on glasses but I wasnt expecting tota ...  More...

Had surgery July 4th 2002. I was +3.75 with an astigmatism in both eyes. I was dependent on glasses all day every day. I was very pleased with the treatment at Accuvision I still can't get used to the fact I don't have to put my glasses on to see, I feel much more confident and for the first time ever I can see clearly. Although there was no pain during the procedure I did find having the clamp on my eyes slightly uncomfortable, but feel it was worth going through. A day after the surgery my presciption had changed to -.75, my vision was hazy for some days which is normal with my prescription, therefore I didn't get perfect results straight away, but every day I noticed an improvement in my ...  More...

I had Laser Treatment on the 22nd June just over 5 weeks ago now. My prescription was -7.5 in both eyes, and I had worn glasses and contact lenses for over 30 years. I was impressed by Accuvision's professionalism and caring attitude, all my questions at my consultation were answered fully and I was impressed by the new wavefront technology that I was able to have. I now have 20/20 vision, its absolutely amazing to be able to see clearer than what I could when I used to wear glasses. Just like to say a big thankyou to my surgeon Mr Ayliffe, Daryus and staff and an extra special thankyou to Vik who answered all the questions that my wife put to him. Thankyou all very much.  More...

Hi me again, this is probably my last post as its just over four weeks post op. Again I'm happy to answer any questions if you mail me. So I've gone from being about +6.5 to -.75 I have no dry eyes or night vision problems i was warned about, My vision is one line less than 20/20 and most days are fine - I've have about one day per week of blurry vision, and since the op have had two days of bionic vision, generally though my sight is good, not quite as good as with glasses but well worth it - I have now plucked up the courage to go to work etc without shades on! but have yet to smash my glasses up ! not that brave. yet. Dear indecisive one’s, As a thirty years old French woman, I had been thinking of this surgery for many years. First, I took information on several web sites in order to better understand my short-sightedness and the way it could be improved. My vision was poor (-7.5 and –7) Scared but determined, I went to Accuvision because I wanted to get rid off my glasses and contact lenses. My first appointment with the clinic gave me the confidence I needed to pass on. The day after (10 days ago), I was lying under this impressive machine with butterflies in my stomach. Believe it or not, I never felt any pain. I was just thinking that I was having a fabulous experience. I could watch everything the ...  More...

I would like to also give a "thumbs-up" to Accuvision and second most of the 5/5 ratings that have already been posted here. I underwent Wavefront Guided LASIK in February of this year having had a prescription of -5.5 and astigmatism in both eyes. I've worn a combination of contacts and glasses since the age of five and now, after my three month check-up, I have 20/10 vision (better than 20/20). All the staff were marvellous, especially Vikash who gave me a thorough and comprehensive consultation, utterly professional and always very friendly. My prescription was -3.5 in the right eye, -5.5 in the left, with a lot of astigmatim. I went for consultations at The Eye Clinic, Boots, Ultralase and Sunrise before I went to Accuvision. I was told at the other clinics that my corneas were too thin for the LASIK procedure (although the Eye Clinic and Sunrise did offer PRK, which I was not very keen on). I think I heard one of them say my corneas were 460 microns thick. I went to Accuvision expecting them to turn me down as well. The people I met were very enthusiastic and knowledgable, and made me feel confident that they would look after me, After testing my eyes they went to great lenghts to show me how the flap they would create would ...  More...

After being turned down by Boots, I went to Ultralase who didn't have the answers to the questions that I asked. Accuvision gave me the answers with no if's and but's. I had wavefront guided LASIK on 27/4/02 and am absolutely thrilled with the results. I initially had consultations with both Boot's and at Accuvision and both clinics told me that my very large pupils increased my risk of night vision problems. My consultant at Boot's told me he thought I'd be fine, but when I asked how many other people with large pupils (over 8mm when dilated with drops)he'd seen and whether any had been dissatisfied he became very vague and said 'thankfully people with pupils that large are few and far between'! My prescription is, or was 8 in both eyes, now it's wonderful to see things so clearly. The team are the most dedicated professionals. I had been turned down by everyone else , these people told me that I could be helped, and they were true to their word. It's early days yet, I only wish I had known about this clinic before. Keep up with the great work. Alex  More...

The service at Accuvision is brilliant. They are very friendly and professional which increased my confidence in the whole procedure. My girlfriend had already had the treatment so a lot of my worries had been answered then, even so there are still anxieties when you have to go through the treatment yourself. My prescription was quite low -1.5 and I was unsure if the procedure would make a great deal of difference, but was assured that it would. I had the treatment on the 20th April 2002 and my vision has increased brilliantly since. There was no pain at all throughout and I would definitely recommend Accuvision.  More...

Had it done yeserday! I was scared and so yes I did enlist the service of the irish handholding nurse....With my extreme long sight the change is shocking and my brain is taking time to get used to it so I will post again in a few weeks/months....So yes it was uncmfortable having my eye clamped open - I flinched on the left one and so will have a very bloodshot look for a few weeks, but I didn't feel a thing after that. Everyone was really nice, I could see one lime more than 2020 right after the op but now can't see anything more than a foot away from me - but this is normal with +6 & +6.5 good days and not so good. I've read the paper today without specs and sent txt msgs on my mobile a ...  More...

It has now been 3 months since I had Laser eye surgery and I can confidently say that anyone considering the procedure should talk to Accuvision. I now have 20/20 vision and it is truly fantastic. Everyday I wake up feeling really pleased with the outcome. Just to be able to see clearly in the morning without having to stretch for my glasses is great. Driving at night and having the ability to read signs clearly is just amazing. I was extremely sceptical about the whole process and fearful of the possibility that just maybe I might go blind. I spoke with the surgeon and the Accuvision team on numerous occasions and to my amazement I started feeling very comfortable once I was given a s ...  More...

I had bilateral WAVEFRONT GUIDED LASIK three months ago,at ACCUVISION. I was a little apprehensive, but at the same time excited about about the prospect of seeing clearly without putting a lump of plastic in my eyes.Well,I'm glad to say that I have absolutely no regrets. Infact my vision is now better than it ever was with glasses or contacts, even at night. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at ACCUVISION,especially the optometrist!  More...

What can I say that hasn’t been said before. Well unlike many of the others who have posted comments on this site I did not have a straight operation. I decided to go with Accuvision after researching the best laser correction technologies available, this was a big decision because I live in N.Ireland and have two laser clinics within driving distance. When I arrived at Accuvision I was made very comfortable and was impressed by the modern clinic. I was apprehensive at this stage because I was so scared that my eyes would not be suitable. After the pre-op assessment I was given the thumbs up. I arrived the following day and was quite nervous about the op, actually I was shitting mysel ...  More...

I've had my consultation - so nervous I was early, but I was seen early without any hassle. I am very rare in that I'm very LONG SIGHTED +6.5 & +7, have astigmasisms in both eyes and my left eye is lazy. After much research accuvision is the only place in the uk who will do me :-) The staff answered all my questions, and rephrased things when i didn't understand. They were paitent when I couln't make a desicion there and then, have customers you can call for references etc. The technology was great - I work with computers so i know what I'm looking at. Yes I am going ahead - very nervous, but they say there is nothing i can do which will hinder the surgery. So in 9 days - 2 1/2 weeks ...  More...

Well, I just had my initial consultations at Optimax (Finchley Rd) and Accuvision. See comments under each clinic. At Accuvision I was examined very thoroughly by a knowlegeable and enthusiastic member of staff. They also carried out wavefront analysis, which gives a far more precise picture of the optical defects than refraction alone. Overall a very impressive setup. I was blown away by the high-tech kit they have there - obviously a huge investment, so they must be pretty confident about recouping it with sufficient patient revenues over the next few years. They've only had about 450 patients so far, so everything's still very new & shiny – and you can take a peek through the window ...  More...

I underwent surgery in the first week of December 2001; in fact I was patient number three. Before treatment my vision in both eyes was between -7.00 and -8.00 and I relied totally on my spectacles and contact lenses. I had contemplated laser treatment for a number of years but never quite built up the courage to seek further information. It was not until a friend recommended Accuvision that I actually got the ball rolling. On the day of the surgery I was quite apprehensive in case anything went wrong but the staff at the clinic from the ophthalmologist through to the receptionist were all very helpful, supportive and reassuring. I was surprised at how quick and painless the whole proced ...  More...

I had my surgery on 02/03/02. It feels fantastic to wake up in the morning and not have to reach for my glasses. Thanks to the efforts of the Accuvision team I can now see better than my partner. The level of care and attention I received was second to none. Their demand for perfection has meant that I now have 20/20 vision. After deliberating for many months I finally booked a consultation at Accuvision on about 3 weeks ago. Having looked at all the information available to me, including this site, I'd decided that if I was going to have anything done it would be the latest wavefront guided laser procedure, which can only be carried out at Accuvision (at least in the UK). I was very happy with the consultation (initial testing by Vic and further testing specifically for the wavefront procedure by Darius) as all my questions were answered in full, they took plenty of time to explain all the pros AND cons, and there was no 'hard sell'. I was very impressed by the state of the art equipment used and all in all I ...  More...

I had laser correction surgery on Friday 5th April, just yesterday and I am sitting here typing this without my glasses or contacts - utter freedom! I found Accuvision to be a remarkable bunch of people, extremely thourough and informative, and best of all - no pressure! The consultation was very indepth and showed me everything in detail, in order to help me make up my mind if I really wanted to go through with it. I was a good candidate for surgery and I was really fed up with having to wear glasses or contacts after 20 years or so. I made up my mind to have the surgery and here I am - free! The consultant and the surgeon went through everything again thouroughly just before surgery wh ...  More...

I had LASIK on 20/2/02. I had been thinking about this surgery for over ten years but was never confident with the technology available. After wearing double glazed glasses since 8 yrs old and then contact lenses for over 13 years I decided it was time I looked into whether surgery was an option for me. After reviewing a number of the clinics offering this surgery I decided to go with Accuvision. They were the only clinic that gave me an assurance that although they couldn't guarantee I would not still need glasses for driving/tv, there was a strong chance I would not. All the other clinics told me I would definitely need glasses as after LASIK I would be left with a small prescriptio ...  More...

Date Of Surgery: November 2001. I can't describe the feeling of waking up the next day and being able to see everything with crystal clear vision. With my year old toddler, who loves grabbing any object in sight, wearing spectacles was a chore. I thank Mr William Ayliffe and his team at Accuvision for all that they have done - they treated me with absolute care and efficiency. I strongly recommend to anyone out there seeking and considering Laser Refractive surgery that they should go to Accuvision.  More...

I went to Accuvision for a (free) consultation yesterday (20/3/02). I was impressed by the experience - pleasant environment, helpful staff, and running to schedule. The consultation took over an hour, and seemed very thorough, including both corneal mapping and use of the aberrometer to measure internal refractive problems. The opthalmologist identified lenticular astigmatism on top of my -8 myopia. They were also able to tell me my corneal thickness (over 600 microns), the flap thickness (150 microns) and the level of ablation (114 microns); it's comforting to know that over half of my corneal thickness will be left untouched the the op. They also pointed out that older laser technolo ...  More...

I had Wavefront LASIK surgery last week and it was the best discision I have ever made. I had over -5 perscription in both eyes, and recently been told never to wear my contact lenses again as I've been wearing them too long and they have damaged my eyes. I'm only 20 so knowing I need to rely on my glasses full time was a bit of a blow so I looked into Laser surgery. The surgery was a complete success, I now have 20/20 vision. It's amazing, I can't thank the team at Accuvision enough they have changed my life, I thoughly recommend this clinic to anyone, but I suggest you do your revision on the surgery itself before hand, as even though it was the most exciting thing I've ever done, it's ...  More...

My eyes were -3.0 and -2.75 with some astigmatism. I checked out both Boots (in Reading) and Accuvision in Fulham, but felt much more confident with Accuvision. The consultation was very thorough (Darius was excellent) and I opted for Wavefront Guided LASIK. I had the surgery just yesterday and can not heap enough praise on the staff. They keep you informed all the time as to what is going on, and were efficient and friendly. Although the suction part is a bit scary and uncomfortable, the op was not as bad as I had expected. There was a very sweet Irish nurse who held my hand throughout and the laser part itself took only a few seconds. Afterwards I was very sore and could hardly open my ...  More...

I have my eyes fixed by AccuVision last Wednesday (27 Feb). With a thinning cornea on my left eye AccuVision were very good at being able to meet my requirements. I have -4.5 in both eyes and at 42 I opted for my left eye to be under corrected so that I am able to put off wearing glasses for age induced long sightness. The AccuVision team are great and there is little I can add to the other comments. My ability to see is priceless and I am very pleased with the results. There are less costly companies offering LASIK without "Wavefront guide" but you only have one pair of eyes and you should not cut corners. I had my surgery just before Christmas and I can't believe what a difference it has made to my life. Just knowing that I no longer have to grope around for my glasses before starting the day is a revelation. I had a prescription of -4.5 and -4.0 and could see no more than 18 inches ahead of me before the surgery, the next day I could see clearly. I have just been for my check-up and now have 20/20 vision something I could never have dreamed of in my wildest dreams. The Accuvision team were wonderful and everything was explained clearly and in a reassuring manner. They were totally realistic about what results could be expected and the timeframes involved. I cannot sing the praises of the Doctors and staff at Accuvision highly enough. I had been considering laser surgery for nearly a decade but it was only after contacting Accuvision that I felt confident enough to go ahead with the procedure. Accuvision's 'state of the art' technology could virtually guarantee me 20/20 vision, and the patience of their staff as I asked hundreds of questions (often the same ones repeated) was commendable. My prescription was –3 in both eyes, I’m 40 years old and I had worn glasses since I was 13. I had two main areas of concern when I first spoke to Accuvision. The first was that I would be able to see as well after surgery as I did with my lenses, and th ...  More...

After the first consultation at Accuvsion my confidence was increased by the staff’s friendly and professional approach. I had no reason to lose this confidence throughout the procedure and am delighted with the results. I had worn glasses since the age of twelve, and was unable to wear contact lenses, so to suddenly be able to go without glasses is fantastic. It’s strange, but great to think that I can now drive and watch TV without glasses, and open my eyes first thing in the morning able to see. To those who have always had good vision it might not seem a big deal, but for me it has made a huge difference.  More...

I had my surgery done last Wednesday 9th January. On my first visit I was very impressed by the professional approach of all staff and the exceptionally high standard of hygiene. The examination was not rushed. Every step was explained to me. I was encouraged to ask as many questions as I wanted to and if I thought of anything before the surgery date I could phone and discuss it with them. Everything was done to reassure me and I was encouraged to speak to people in the waiting room who had just had surgery. I am 57 years old and have worn contact lenses for 35 years.
