Mr Anant Sharma qualified at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 1986. He began his senior house officer ophthalmic training at Oxford and St George’s Hospital, London.

He went on to become a senior registrar and undertake a fellowship in front-of-eye diseases in Cardiff and Bristol, before being appointed as a consultant at Bedford Hospital in 1997 and joining Moorfields Hospital in 2007.

His areas of interest include general ophthalmology, corneal transplants, refractive laser surgery, cataracts, research, developing new drugs/equipment and techniques for ophthalmic surgery.

Mr Sharma is also the senior clinical lecturer at Cranfield University, Bedfordshire.
