Gerard Kervick trained in Belfast and has worked in Belfast, Northern Ireland and North America. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
He has extensive experience in phacoemulsification small incision cataract microsurgery with folding intraocular lenses, as well as Excimer laser refractive surgery. As one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) in 1992, he has considerable clinical and investigational experience with laser refractive surgery. He has been performing LASIK since January 1998 and is involved in training other surgeons in the procedure.
He was appointed as a Consultant in 1991 and is currently a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based at the Mater Hospital, Belfast.
