Mr Jeffrey trained in Ophthalmology at a number of the UK's leading eye hospitals including Moorfields and Addenbrooke's,
Cambridge. In 1990 Mr. Jeffrey became Consultant Ophthalmologist and Consultant Advisor to the
Medical Director General (Navy). When he left the Royal Navy in 1993 Mr Jeffrey took up the position of Consultant
Ophthalmic Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. He has extensive experience in laser refractive surgery and has
performed Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) since 1992 and Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) from 1999.
His sub-speciality interests include medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataract surgery. Before becoming
LaserVision's Clinical Director, Mr Jeffrey carried out numerous laser eye surgery procedures over a period of six years at the
BUPA Hospital, Portsmouth, using LaserVision's mobile treatment unit.
Mr Jeffrey is the past Chairman of the Corporate Speciality Education Committee in Ophthalmology for Wessex and is currently
Programme Director for Ophthalmic Training in Wessex. He is the Wessex region representative of the Ophthalmic Group
Committee of the British Medical Association. He also lectures regularly to ophthalmologists in training, GPs, optometrists,
nurses and medical students. Mr Jeffrey is a member of a number of professional bodies including the British Medical
Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Southern Ophthalmological Society, European Glaucoma Society and the
United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
