Ms Abedin qualified as a doctor and obtained a Master's degree in Ophthalmology in 1990 in India. She has trained at various centres in the UK and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She has published a thesis on her research work into allergic eye disease and continues to research corneal eye disease in the department of the renowned Professor of Ophthalmology, Professor H S Dua, at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. Ms Abedin joined Ultralase in 2001, where she has performed over 4,100 laser eye surgery procedures.
