    I went to the Shaftesbury Avenue clinic last November. The results are pretty good - I've gone from -6 in both eyes to having near perfect vision. The downside is that I suffer from very dry eyes, and can sometimes have trouble focusing. Eyedrops (when I feel the need) and eye exercises (five mins a day) help with both. My top tip - rest before the surgery, and get your eyes used to accepting eyedrops. Optical Express themselves have several things going for them - they are cheaper than many others, more flexible with appointment times and offer unlimited follow up consultations for the first year after surgery.     Very poor standard of care. After my first treatment I still had a remaining refractive error and was told repeatedly at all of my follow up appointments that my vision was not stable enough to have my next treatment. Optical express also refused to provide me with contact lenses prior to my second treatment which I had been assured was part of their standard care if the treatment was not entirely successful. Quite frankly to me the Harley Street branch seemed like a factory. Furthermore follow up care was clearly not a priority as there was no financial gain.     I went to the Belfast clinic. Pre op tests showed I was suitable despite telling them I suffered from dry eyes. I stupidly assumed they knew what they were talking about and went ahead with the surgery June 2007. My visual acuity during the day is now 6/6, but I've ended up with severe dry eye and horrific night time aberrations that include halos, glare and starbursts. My visual acuity also reduces to -1.00 at night time because my pupils dilate outside the zone that was enhanced (the size of my pupils should have been accounted for in the pre op checks!)     Anyone considering using this Company should first visit the website www.opticalexpressruinedmylife.co.uk I have suffered disastrous results from surgery that should NOT have been performed. I am still wearing bifocals 3 years later. My vision is blurred which cannot be corrected with spectacles because the laser has damaged my cornea and the constant pain from extreme dry eyes leaves me unable to sleep, function or work. Please DO NOT use this company. The failure rate is MUCH higher than their advertising states. I will be on lifelong medication and suffer impaired vision for the rest of my life thanks to OE.     I went to Nottingham store for assessment. It is at the back of the optician shop. There are a lot of patients sitting in the small waiting area. There wasn't much privacy. One of the staff gave a questionnaire to fill and it took them about 30 min before anyone came to collect it. And there was no one to give it to either. Then there is a big sales pitch video about why optical express is so good and the girl talks to you a bit about the questionnaire and the money side of things. Then she takes you to do a few of the tests. She is not an optometrist just a trained member of staff to operate the machine. Then finally the optometrist checks you out and gives the price.     Dissapointed , Very dissapointed , I was quite excited when I was told that i could have fantastic eyesight for £1790.00 with the best of the best treatment , I signed up to it straight away , I was told that I was a great candidate for treatment and it would be straight forward procedure , On the day of treatment I travelled to Leeds (an hour and a half away), the staff where very friendly and they put me at ease , they told me I could go in straight away which made me feel a bit rushed but I thought let's go for it , the procedure itself didn't hurt but it feels uncomfortable , within ten minutes I was sorted , my eyes where very sensitive to light so I closed them all the way home , the p ...  More...

    I had Laser eye surgery in 2007 for my 21st birthday with Optical Express, which all went well and after my surgery I was left with 20:20 vision. For the first 2 years everything seemed to be perfect, however following this my sight started to blur. I went back to Optical Express on a few occasions and was told this was because I suffered from dry eyes, I was told to bathe them with diluted baby shampoo which at first seemed to do the trick, though some days were better than others.     i was very shortsighted and fed up of wearing specs so I decided to go for a chat about laser eye surgery at optical express. they checked my eyes out and told me the surgery was available in two days time for me! as i had only gone in for a chat i was shocked at how quickly my vision could be permanently fixed. I went for the surgery, as a student i opted for a finance option, meaning I payed a £200 deposit and the rest is to be paid monthly. The surgery itself lasted only 10 mins and although a little nerve racking it was over before i knew it. i didn't feel a thing but the thought of "eye surgery" never goes down well! but it really is a simple and quick procedure.     Ive been turned down for surgery before so I told them at my consultation and they said in would be fine. They told me I can speak to the sugeon at my second consultation at harley ST. but I must pay £500 for this. I was assured that I would get it back if the surgeon said I wasn't suitable. I didn't see the surgeon on the second consultation and had the same tests as the first consultation. They brushed over the fact that I had been refused sugery before and said I would meet the surgeon on the morning of my operation who would decide whether surgery would go ahead.
