    Very disappointed by the utter lack of after care service. I had my surgery in Liverpool Dec 2011. Thought 2012 went for all follow up appointments and was told that as my prescription was now small I would be able to have top up laser to sharpen up the blurred distant vision I have. I had IOL because my cornea are thin and I have RA. Howerever as I have said after my surgery I was repeatedly told I could have top up laser surgery. After months of being messed around I was booked to attend the Chester clinic last Saturday.     The official price for my procedure listed at ultralase website at the actual date of my surgery (14/12/2012) was 800 GBP lower than the one on my contract signed at the end of October (my surgery was initially scheduled for November, and I was told December is 'full'; however, the procedure had to be postponed due to conjunctivitis). I have not questioned the price initially, wrongly considering it to be a fixed price for a health product rather than a negotiable business deal (or something bound to change during the 'full' December?)     I'm currently 3 months post-op and am left with a residual prescription of L(-1.0, -0.75) R(-0.75,-0.25).I'm below legal driving standard and forced to wear RX glasses for any activity requiring distance vision: driving, tennis, TV etc. (My pre-op prescription was about -5,-1.25 both eyes). Obviously I am not yet satisfied with the results given that I had the most expensive (and hyped) treatment option - the ultra elite.I've been told that it is a waiting game between now and 6 months post-op at which point I will be assessed for and likely require a LASIK enhancement surgery to achieve full correction.     BE FOREWARNED Ultralase has no problems in waiting your time. Clearly is you have an issue with being short sighted or long sighted then this treatment may well work. Here is my experience. I made an appointment to attend the Chelmsford clinic on Wednesday the 8th of August 2012 at 14.30. I was informed that I had to set aside two hours and that the required my credit card detail to cover none attendance. I’ve had issues with my eyes for many years and have had to attend an eye clinic for monitoring. I’ve had no treatment or medication.     I went to have treatment at the Tottenham Court Road branch by Mr Gupta. Everything was explained to me beforehand including using the drops afterwards. Unfortunately, the suction that is used to keep your eyes open when they make the flap wouldn't stay, Mr Gupta tried 5 times and wouldn't do anymore after that because it wasn't safe. He gave me some antibiotic eye drops and said that it was very rare that this happened but that I could wait for my eye to heal and go back in 2 weeks and try again, which I'm going to do. He was very good at explaining everything to me, and the nurses were really sweet and helpful. Really impressed with them and hopefully next time the suction will work!!  More...

    I had my treatment back in July 2011. The process was very smooth as my surgeon guided me on what to do and it seemed that he knew very well what he was doing. My right eye started to become very painful and tearful 20 minutes after the treatment and the pain lasted until the next day. My vision was improved very slowly although I achieved driving standard one week after the treatment. I started driving two weeks after the treatment but I couldn't see the road signs until I got so close that I almost missed my way.     Was so pleased with the left eye, that I went back 6 months later and had the right eye done. They still weren't happy enough with the shape to do Lasik, so I had Lasek with MMC. On the day, the laser in St Albans was down, so they took me by taxi to Northampton, treated me and drove me home. It took AGES all in, but it was 23 december and the team stayed till 20:30 at night to treat everyone. Lasek healing is slower, but I am really pleased.     Leeds Ultralase were very efficient and professional from my consultation to the procedure in Nov 10 and follow up checks at 24 hrs, 1 month and 6 months. My sight is now better than 20;20 having been short sighted since my 20`s ( I`m now 51), and I just now wear +1.50 reading glasses for close up work which I hadn't previously needed but was told that I would need after the treatment. I am extremely happy with the result, so much so that a friend has since had Lasek, and my husband is currently discussing dates for treatment with Ultralase -he has to go to the London clinic for his prescription.     I did not find this to be a hard sell - though they do insist on the Ultra Elite.. who's going to take second best when it's your eyes?? The staff are professional, but the run up to my actual surgery was a mess. I went from having 2 eyes done (Lasik), to oh no we can't do your right eye - except with Lasek.. to not being sure they could even do that. They changed the date and time of the appointment 4 times, and given I was coming over from Belgium this was a major stress. However, once I met Mr Gupta I was reassured and the surgery (on left eye only, as I didn't want to be rushed into Lasek when I wasn't sure about it for my correction) was a huge success.     I had the surgery 3 days ago and have to say that I have been extremely please with Ultralase throughout the entire procedure. From the initial consultation, I felt that they were rigorous in their safety practices and this is true to the actual surgery and the after-care. The consultation was not 'salesy', was very thorough and I left thinking they had the best interests for my sight; rather than just trying to sell me a lesser product so that the surgery was within my budget. I mention this because I also went for an optical express consultation (I had heard they were cheaper) - but from the start the entire appointment made me feel that they were less caring, less rigorous in their ...  More...
