    At first I was thinking of going with Accuvision for my surgery purely on the competitive prices they had. It was only when I went for my consultation when I realised they were definitely the most reliable and professional eye surgery clinic on offer. I had been to consultations with other companies and I felt that I had met more salesmen than I had actual professionals on the day. One particular company even tried to tempt me to book it ASAP so I could save a further 10% on top of my NHS discount, which is absolute nonsense when it's life altering and irreversible surgery that you're considering.     Having laser eye surgery with Accuvision was a horrible mistake that has caused me a lot of stress, and lost sleep. The issues started with my treatment (even now my eyesight is not right), but the worst part of my experience has been that since I complained it has felt like I was dealing with a petulant child instead of a professional company. My consultation with Accuvision started with lots of scans after which the optometrist asked me if I had been told I had Keratoconus before. I had never heard of it, so he explained that it is a degenerative eye condition that can cause blindness. He showed me scans of eyes with Keratoconus, and pointed out the similarities with my scans.     It was 3 years ago that I walked down the stairs into the London clinic for the first time. Now I'm back again with my girlfriend while she undergo's laser eye surgery herself. Following my laser eye surgery I have started playing hockey again and have embraced the experience of not having to wear glasses. I now wish Tara, my girlfriend the same life changing experience that I have enjoyed. I'm pleased to say that after a quick check-up today (while Tara recovered from her surgery) I have been told that my eyes haven't changed and 20:20 vision remains.     I had all my treatment done at the Kings Road place. The consultation went very well and I as offered a very good price I think of £700 per eye. The surgery day did not go very well though. I was introduced to the Surgeon, Samreen Uppal, on the day of surgery but, for some reason,some one else (who wasn't properly introduced) did the talking before the surgery and then someone else (another person) did the explaining during the surgery. The fact that I was being given very vague instructions during the procedure and that the surgeon herself hardly spoke at all made me very stressed and I even had to raise my voice during the surgery to ask exactly what I was supposed to be doing.     I was accepted for surgery at optical express the week before but I wanted a second opinion and once I had read the other reviews here about accuvision I wanted to get treated there. So i went for an assessment yesterday fully prepared to sign up for surgery. To my surprise and relief I was told I wasn't suitable. Nick was very good took the time to explain everything and went through the computer generated images to explain why I wasn't suitable. Offered me advice on what to do in future and offered to write to my optometrist about it. I thought that was amazing service.     I'm 46 and had successfully worn contact lenses for years (strength -5.75). However, I had noticed that for the last couple of years I seemed to struggle reading menu's etc. A visit to the optician offered no change to my prescription, so I was becoming increasingly frustrated.     I am writing this review 6 years after my surgery in August 2006 and I should say that I am very very happy I had the laser eye surgery. My vision is still perfect on one eye and has decreased by 0.25 on the other, which is - as far as my and my current ophthalmologist are concerned - a brilliant result. If I had known how much I would enjoy life without glasses I would have had the surgery years before I actually did. Compared to the prices in continental Europe Accuvision are very competitive too.     Like many others who have posted here before, I had been considering having surgery for many years. This year I am pleased to say that I finally decided to do something about it and find out if I was suitable. I had increasingly found wearing contact lenses uncomfortable and desperately needed a new pair of glasses and, having a prescription of -8.75 with astigmatism, resented the thought of the expense this would entail.     I had my surgery on 14/12/11. That day my life changed forever. I was severally short sighted. -9.25 in my right eye and -11.00 in my left eye both with astigmatism. I went for my consultation and they explained I could have laser surgery and what they were aiming for. I wasn't expecting 20:20 vision due to my poor sight just being able to see the alarm clock would be fine with me. Accuvision was my last hope having been refused by two previous clinics due to having a thin cornea in my left eye and large pupils when it is dark. 3 weeks after my consultation I was booked in for surgery.
